That’s why we’re excited to introduce Steven Tennis, our new San Antonio area sales manager! Steven brings energy, expertise and a people-first approach to our San Antonio team. In this post, we’re getting to know Steven a little better and learning more about why he chose to join First America Homes, his leadership philosophy and what he enjoys when he’s not helping families find their perfect home.

What inspired you to join First America Homes, and what excites you most about leading sales in the San Antonio market?
I was inspired to join First America Homes because of Chris Hill, Dave Barnhart and Danny Signorelli. The way these gentlemen look at the business is energizing. The most exciting thing for me about leading the sales team in San Antonio is the growth potential and opportunity to impact our team’s lives.

What’s your approach to helping homebuyers find the perfect home, and what do you think sets First America Homes apart?
My approach is to minimize the transactional nature of the sales equation. People are often intimidated by all the transactional processes involved in buying a new home. What sets First America Homes apart is the way we offer care, understanding and empathy to help a buyer walk through the homebuying processes.

If you could describe your leadership style in three words, what would they be and why?
My Leadership style would be defined by the words, people, candor and fun.
People - I always want to make sure our people are first. I want to help remove anything preventing them from doing their jobs effectively.
Candor- Being honest and letting a team member know what they are doing well and what they could do differently is extremely important to me.
Fun- We typically spend more time with our teammates than we do with our families. “Work Hard, Play Hard” is a vital mindset.

When you’re not helping families find their dream homes, how do you like to spend your free time?
I love creating new experiences for our kids. We enjoy traveling and feeding the cattle out at the ranch. For me, it's all about creating great memories with my family and seeing them learn from doing different things! We also enjoy going to the University of Texas Sporting Events, Hook 'em Horns!
