The Signorelli Co. and First America Homes Commit to Building Benefit Home

The Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) is excited to announce The Signorelli Company and its homebuilding division, First America Homes, signed an agreement to build the next home for the GHBA Benefit Homes Project (BHP), benefitting HomeAid Houston, Operation Finally Home and the GHBA Charitable Foundation.

“It takes a great deal of resources to make a difference,” Scott Merovitch, chairman of the GHBA’s Benefit Homes Project said. “We are profoundly thankful to The Signorelli Company for pouring their own resources, time and money to build a home that they won’t make a dime on when it comes time to sell in support of three local charities.”

As part of The Signorelli Company’s commitment to the GHBA’s Benefit Homes Project, The Woodlands-based real estate development company has pledged to donate the home site and the time, resources and labor to build the entire home. In addition, The Signorelli Company will also outreach, vet and source all the required homebuilding vendors and suppliers to also donate their time, labor and materials to complete the home.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of the GHBA Benefit Homes Project. This is an incredible opportunity for our team to come together and improve the lives of others right here in Houston,” Dave Barnhart, president of First America Homes, said. “We’re so fortunate to be part of an industry where we can make such a difference in our own community.”

The GHBA Board of Directors envisioned this charitable project to help build a brighter future for Houston’s less fortunate through the hearts and hands of the homebuilding industry. The goal was to give back to Houston by doing what GHBA members do best – building quality homes. Each project starts with a developer who donates the home site and a builder who builds the entire home at no cost. It all comes together at the end with a team of vendors and suppliers who donate all the materials and labor required to make a house a home, including a fresh coat of paint, windows, cabinetry, appliances and more. The home is then sold at market price with full transparency to the homebuyer.

In 44 years, the GHBA Benefit Homes Project has raised $13 million for its charity partners.

“HomeAid Houston, Operation Finally Home and the GHBA Charitable Foundation are three top-notch charities committed to creating positive change and making a positive impact,” said GHBA President Matthew Reibenstein, Royal Design Build Co. “We are extremely grateful to The Signorelli Company for their numerous contributions to the GHBA’s charitable project.”

Anticipated to begin in Q4, this collaboration between The Signorelli Company, First America Homes and the GHBA illustrates how the homebuilding industry can profoundly impact lives and foster hope for a brighter future in Houston.
