first America homes donated three build days of labor and sponsored new home
(April 29, CONROE, TX) - First America Homes, one of Greater Houston’s favorite homebuilders, helped to complete a home for a family in need that was dedicated by Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Saturday April 27th. The ceremony included a ribbon cutting and a key transfer to the receiving family.
“We are so happy to have been apart of this amazing effort,” said Dave Barnhart, President of First America Homes. “This was a great opportunity to give back to our community and provide a beautiful new home for a deserving family.”
Since 1989, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County has overseen the construction of hundreds of homes to provide adequate, safe and affordable housing for families in need through their homeownership program.
The First America Homes sales and construction team donated three days in August and September to bring the home to life. By building walls and raising roof trusses, First America aimed to give back to one of the many communities they serve and make dreams a reality for this family. The volunteer effort took place at Cedar Creek, the first 100% Habitat for Humanity-occupied community in Montgomery County. The subdivision spans 37 acres and will house 129 families once all homes are completed.
Recipients of the homeownership program must apply and meet specific criteria. Candidates who live in insufficient housing, are unable to obtain housing through conventional methods, live in overcrowded conditions and have issues with structure, water, electrical, heating or sewage, may qualify to purchase a Habitat home. Applicants must then meet certain financial requirements, like an adequate credit score, and complete classes in homebuyer education, including home management, safety and more.
